Getting Started with Therapy

Getting Started with Therapy *

  • Your first session is all about getting to know you! We’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, what you hope to accomplish, and how we can best support you. Your therapist will go over paperwork, discuss payment options, and help create a plan that fits your needs. No pressure—just a space to explore and see if we’re the right fit!

  • That depends on you! Your therapist will work with you to determine the best schedule based on your needs and goals. Most people start with more frequent sessions and adjust over time, but if monthly check-ins make sense for you, that’s something you and your therapist can discuss. It’s all about what works best for your healing journey!

  • Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all! Some people come in for a few months to work through something specific, while others find long-term therapy helpful for ongoing support. The length of therapy depends on your personal goals, progress, and what feels right for you.

  • No worries! Finding the right therapist is a personal process, and we totally understand that sometimes it’s just not the right fit. We recommend giving it a few sessions, but if you’re not feeling the connection, just let us know. We’re happy to help you switch therapists so you can find the best match for you!

  • Yes! We offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth sessions at the same rate as in-office therapy. You must be in Utah to receive online therapy (per state law), but if you’re eligible, it’s a great way to fit therapy into your schedule from the comfort of your home!

  • Absolutely! Research shows that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person sessions. It’s especially great for people who need flexibility, prefer their own space, or just love the convenience of attending sessions in their sweatpants (we won’t judge).

🗓️ Missed Intake Appointments Policy

Your intake appointment is an important first step in starting therapy! If you no-show or late cancel (same-day cancellation) your intake appointment, that will count as your one-time grace cancellation.

📌 If your rescheduled intake is also missed or canceled late, we will refer you to other providers, and your intake spot will be offered to someone else on our waitlist.

This policy helps ensure that available spots go to clients who are ready to begin therapy. If you have questions, feel free to reach out!

Policies & Procedures *

  • Life happens—we get it! If you need to cancel, please give us at least 24 hours’ notice so we can offer your spot to someone else. If you cancel late or miss your session, there will be a Late Cancellation Fee (since insurance doesn’t cover missed appointments).

We do offer one grace cancellation for emergencies like serious illness, accidents, or family emergencies (but not for work conflicts). If bad weather is an issue, we can switch to a phone or video session instead!

  • Therapy is a time commitment, and when you cancel last-minute, it affects you, your therapist, and another client who could have used that time. Giving us 24 hours' notice helps us make sure everyone gets the support they need.

If you know in advance that you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible—it helps us and other clients out!

  • If you’re running a little behind, don’t stress—just let us know! But if you’re more than 15 minutes late, we may have to reschedule and count it as a no-show, which means a full session fee will still apply.

To avoid no-show fees, please try to give at least 24 hours' notice if you know you can’t make it on time.

  • Maybe! Requests for treatment summaries, disability paperwork, or work accommodations are considered on a case-by-case basis. However, we do not provide letters for emotional support animals, child custody evaluations, or legal matters. If you have a specific request, feel free to ask your therapist about it.

⏳ No-Show & Late Cancellation Fee

Our no-show/late cancellation fee is $125, which is the full session rate.

📌 Important: Insurance does not cover missed sessions or late cancellations. This fee is the client’s responsibility and will be charged directly to you.

If you have any questions about our cancellation policy, feel free to ask!
